Jessica is a former enrollee who now works as a social worker with seniors who need Medicaid.

“As a former individual who relied on Medical Assistance for myself and my son while I was going to college, [Medicaid] meant that I could focus on completing my schooling and not have to worry about how I would afford a medical bill. After I graduated, I was able to get a job that offered health insurance. Now I work with people with developmental disabilities that rely on their Medical Assistance to live their best lives.”

“I currently work with members over 65 who reside in assisted living facilities, memory care units, skilled nursing facilities and in their own homes. Without Medical Assistance, all of these seniors would no longer be able to stay where they are living and would not be receiving the supports and services to allow them to be as independent as possible.”

“If Medical Assistance gets cut significantly, I could potentially be out of a job … which would be a great financial impact on my family as I am the primary breadwinner. And many residents in the assisted living facilities, memory care, skilled nursing homes or even their own homes would not have access to sometimes lifesaving supports.”
