Sober Homes Work Group
In fiscal year 2022, the Minnesota Legislature requested that the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) form a work group to conduct a study of sober homes (SF873). (View a hearing on SF873 by the Committee on Human Services Reform Finance and Policy.)
This work group will build a report and make recommendations to the Legislature on or before September 15, 2022 in the following four focus areas:
- increasing access
- promoting person-centered practices and cultural responsiveness
- potential oversight of sober home programs
- providing consumer protections for individuals in sober home programs with substance use disorders and individuals with co-occurring mental illnesses
These organizations are partnering with DHS in the work group:
- Minnesota Society for Addiction Medicine
- NAMI Minnesota
- Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health
- Minnesota Association of Sober Homes
