HPE: Training

Your unique key is an identification number that the Learning Center uses to manage your transcript and registrations. You would not have a unique key unless you have previously taken courses through DHS or MNsure.

• If you don’t already have a unique key, or if you have forgotten your unique key, follow Step 1 in the web-based registration process. 
• If you are a Certified Application Counselor (CAC), use the unique key you used to take the CAC training. You can find it using the Unique Key Search Form.

The Learning Center is available any time except during regular maintenance on Friday mornings from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Periodic network maintenance by DHS or the Office of Enterprise Technology may affect connectivity and availability of the system for short periods. If the Learning Center is unavailable, you may alert us by calling 651-431-3008 and leaving a message.

Select the Contact us link in the Learning Center to tell us of a reasonable accommodation you need. Include the class name and date, as well as your preferred contact method (phone, email, TTY) for the reply.

Hospitals need to submit the names and HPE Learning Center identification numbers of a minimum of two hospital staff members using the Hospital Staff Who Passed DHS Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Online Training Course (DHS-3889) (PDF) form.

A unique key is needed to register for or begin taking classes.

First-time users

• Complete the Unique Key Request Form. 
• You will receive an email within two business days which will confirm your unique key. 

Returning users

• If you have forgotten your unique key, use the Unique Key Search Form. You will receive an email within two business days that will confirm your unique key.
• If you need to update your record with new information, complete a Unique Key Request Form, even if you already have a unique key. 

You can begin taking the class upon receiving your confirmation email for your unique key. 

To sign in to the Learning Center: 

• Navigate to the Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) Learning Center. 
• Select “Sign On” located in the top right corner. 
• Enter your unique key and select “OK.” Your name will appear in the top right corner. 

Remember, the HPE Learning Center is not available on Fridays until 8:30 a.m.

Select “Online Course Search” after you log in to the HPE Learning Center.

• Choose the Select button in front of the course. 
• Determine if you are starting a course, resuming a course, or reviewing a course.
  The following information is provided to help you with that selection.

Starting a course 

You may start a course that you have not completed in one of three ways. Courses function differently depending on the way the course is started. 

1. Select the Start Course button located in the upper right corner. The course will open. Upon closing each module, you will be directed to the next module until all modules are complete without returning to the module menu. 
2. Select the Start link found before the first module in the course menu. The course will open. Upon closing each module, you will be directed to the next module until all modules are complete without returning to the module menu. 
3. Select the Start link found just below the name of the first module. The course will open. Upon closing each module you will return to the course menu to select the next module until the course is complete.
   Note: If you choose to Restart a course after you have completed it, the course is reset and you will need to complete the course again to receive credit on your transcript. 

Resuming a course

If you leave and come back to finish later, you should see a Continue Course, Restart Course or Cancel Course buttons. If you select the Restart Course button, your previous score will be reset. 

Reviewing a course

If you want to review a course you have already taken without resetting your score, select the Review Course button.
Note: You will receive an error message about pop-up blockers if your pop-up blocker function is turned on. Contact your internal IT support person if you receive this message and request the pop-up blocker function be turned off. 

Add to favorites

You can save a course to your favorites after you have selected a class, but before you have started it.
