These model guidelines are intended for use by managed care organizations (MCOs) under the contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). The models contain general information and do not include details specific to individual MCOs.
MCOs must comply with contractual requirements and applicable state and federal regulations about member handbooks. Contracted MCOs use the model guidelines as a basis for their member handbook development. Each MCO is responsible for including MCO specific information, including but not limited to, referral and service authorization requirements. MCOs should contact their designated DHS contract manager if they have questions about the DHS member handbooks model guidelines.
