Participant employer options

People who use direct support services have the option to employ their direct support workers. We refer to this as a participant employer option because the person using the option is both:

• A participant in a direct support services program
• The employer of his or her workers.

You can use the Participant Employer Options if you use the following services:

• Personal care assistance (PCA) Choice
• Consumer directed community supports (CDCS)
• Consumer Support Grant (CSG)

If you are enrolled in the Minnesota Restricted Recipient Program (MRRP), you cannot choose a participant employer option. You must use a provider agency to receive direct support services, such as personal care assistance.
