HIV: dental services

You should have no out-of-pocket expenses for your dental treatment as long as Program HH covers the service(s) you need. If you have private dental insurance and Program HH covers the procedure you have done, Program HH pays your co-pays or deductibles.

When you talk to the dentist, tell them:

Program HH is a state health care program
You have Program HH dental benefits
Your eight-digit program number.

Needs more information on Program HH or what services you can receive
Tells you Program HH does not cover the service you need.

Eligibility
To be eligible for dental services, you may be enrolled in another Minnesota Health Care Program like Medicaid or MinnesotaCare.

You must:
- Be HIV positive
- Have an annual income under 400 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines
- Reside in Minnesota.
Services
The dental program covers most dental procedures including cleaning, fillings, x-rays, routine maintenance and dentures. Covered procedures include:
- Program HH covered dental services
- Program HH dental procedures requiring prior authorization
Some procedures are not covered, such as dental implants, braces and gold crowns.

Providers
You must use a Minnesota Health Care Program dentist to receive dental services through your Program HH dental benefits.

If you are enrolled with a managed care organization, contact your MCO for authorization requirements.
