Child care background studies

State law requires background studies for certain people who provide direct contact services or have access to vulnerable adults and children. Learn more about background studies for child care providers and find answers to frequently asked questions.

The Department of Human Services resumed fingerprint-based background studies for all child care providers. The emergency background studies that DHS began conducting in April 2020 in response to COVID-19 are no longer valid.
