When applicants or recipients appeal delays or denials, the department provides fair hearings.

Civil rights in human services

The Department of Human Services (DHS), county human service agencies and other service providers are committed to providing equal access to programs and services for eligible Minnesotans.

County financial disputes

The Department of Human Services has the statutory authority to resolve disputes between county human services agencies regarding financial responsibility for human services programs ranging from medical assistance to commitment.

Diversity and cultural competence

Diversity encompasses a broad range of human differences. It includes, but is not limited to, differences in ability and disability, age, educational level, ethnicity, gender, geographic origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class and values.
