Maltreatment reduction

Licensing rules and statutes are the minimum standards that license holders are required to meet. The following information is provided to call your attention to areas that pose a risk of harm to individuals receiving services in licensed programs and to provide recommendations to reduce this likelihood. Although many of the areas and the corresponding recommendations are requirements of licensure, some are not specifically mentioned in the rules. They also address topics where DHS has received reports of injuries or alleged maltreatment. Implementing these recommendations does not mitigate the license holder's responsibility to ensure compliance with licensing rules and statutes.

In addition, the Ombudsman for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (OMHDD) regularly releases educational information and alerts.  Please familiarize yourself with this information available at https://mn.gov/omhdd/documents/medical-alerts.jsp.
