Shaneen Moore

Moore promotes self-sufficiency of families, children’s well-being

Shaneen Moore is deputy assistant commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services Children and Family Services. Combining her experience and enthusiasm for collaboration and innovation, she is responsible for overseeing and leading the administration’s strategic planning and community engagement efforts.
 
In addition to this role, Moore also serves as director of the administration’s Child Support Division where she leads legislative matters related to child support, supervises the division’s daily operations, and coordinates the long-term strategic planning of the state’s child support program to promote the well-being of children and the self-sufficiency of families. Through her work, Moore prioritizes and champions the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as critical elements in eliminating disparities in the services and outcomes so often found within marginalized communities.
 
Moore began her professional career in corporate finance, working for large organizations such as Wells Fargo, UnitedHealth Group and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis before taking a job as operations manager at Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. She’s also served as an operations manager for the nonprofit Northside Economic Opportunity Network.
 
Moore has held numerous leadership roles and committee memberships throughout her career, including those for:
  • The National Child Support Enforcement Association Policy Forum Planning Committee 
  • The National Child Support Enforcement Association Leadership Symposium Planning Committee 
  • Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Human Service Performance Management Council 
  • Partnership to Advance Equity and Reduce Disparities in Minnesota's Human Services System 
  • Minnesota Children's Cabinet Interagency Leadership Team.
Moore earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Management, and a Bachelor of Business degree in Finance from Western Illinois University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Management and Public Service from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, with an anticipated completion date of December 2023.
