Medication program (ADAP)

The medication program provides HIV/AIDS-related medications to people living in Minnesota with HIV/AIDS. These medications treat HIV disease or conditions associated with HIV. This program is known as the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).

This program may help you if you:

Are not eligible for medication coverage through programs like Medicaid or MinnesotaCare
Have medication coverage through Medicare Part D and need help to pay medication copays and deductibles.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) in Minnesota, a person must:
- Be HIV positive
- Be uninsured or insured with a drug co-pay
- Have income below 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
You cannot be on Medical Assistance, Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities or MinnesotaCare.
Formulary
The Program HH Medication Program Drug Formulary is a list of the medications you may receive under this program. The formulary includes:
- All primary HIV treatment drugs
- Drugs to treat conditions associated with HIV
- Drugs to help treat side effects of medication treatment.
If you feel a drug should be in the formulary, ask your physician or pharmacist if they would submit a Formulary Drug Addition Request Form (PDF).

An advisory committee of HIV specialty physicians, pharmacists, case managers and consumers meets every two years to review all requests and make recommendations.
